Britain and Ireland- a conference in Warsaw.
A conference concerning new Polish migration from the
socilogical, economical and cultural point of view will take
place in Warsaw on the 11th of June 2007 in the National Library
in Warsaw - al Niepodleglosci room 200.

"Migrations and Rootlessness as <Resources for
Others>"
-a seminar in the seat of the Barka Foundation
A
seminar entitled "Migrations and Rootlessness as <Resources for
others>" has been organised in the seat of the Barka Foundation on
Monday the 21st of May 2007. Numerous guests took part in the meeting:
dr Zbigniew Galor and dr Slawomir Kalinowski from the Social Science
Faculty in the Poznan Academy of Agriculture, The Barka Foundation Board
representatives, the monitoring&recommendation team and the participants
of the "12 Disciples" Programme. Lectures were given by dr Zbigniew
Galor, Ewa Sadowska, Barbara Sadowska. The meetings and seminars are
going to be orgasnised in the future. We hope that the Civil Institute
for Monitoring and Recommendation will be opened as a result of those
meetings and cooperation between the Barka Foundation and the Poznan
Academy of Agriculture.

The Barka Foundation on a conference in Thetford, UK- Active European Citizenship Programme
Decorum CVS has invited Barka Foundation representatives to take active parts in a conference organized on on 2nd May (10am to 3pm) in Thetford, Norfolk, UK. The event is one of the elements of a project funded through the Active European Citizenship programme and will be specifically on the subject of working / sharing information at a European level and the need for services to respond to the needs of migrant workers in the region. The latter dovetails with the other European project Dacorum is currently delivering, entitled "Meeting the Information Needs of Economic Migrants".

Ecas Conference-16th of March 2007
governments'
representatives, public services and their networks representatives (such
as EURES-European Employment Services,)NGOs, local communities
representatives from all over Europe as well as EU instittions
representatives were present at the ECAS conference in Brussels. The
aim of the seminar was to create recommendations for EU policy makers in
the area of workers mobility. The Barka Foundation as an expert
organisation from East-Central Europe was invited to the conference to
present its activities for "migrants in their own country"in Poland and
its plans of the activities dissemination in the old Member States ( the
activities will be aimed at "work migrants" facing various problems such
as difficulties with integration and unemployment) The Foundation's
representative took the floor during the opening session. The speach was
perceived as very positive and the following speakers made frequent
refference to the Barka Foundation activities. The Director of the
Employment and Equal Opportuniies Department informed the EuroMi
representatives that the Commissioner Vladimir Spidla has respodned to
the Barka Foundation and its partner organisations appeal to the
European Commission and that the response should arrive soon.

The Ministry of Work and Social Policy in cooperation with the Cabinet of
the Prime Minister and the Polish Parliament organized
an international conference: "Social pact – a chance for success”
in Warsaw on the 24th of January 2007, 10.30 – 17.30.
The aim of the conference was to learn about the
Polish and foreign experiences in the field of social agreements of
nation-wide scope, a revision of the up-to-now realization of the
project of Social Agreement called “Economy – Work – Family – Dialogue”
and recommendations for the continuation of the project.
The conference was attended by:
- Jarosław Kaczyński, the Prime Minister of Poland
- Vladimir Špidla, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal
Opportunities
- Anna Kalata, Minister of Work and Social Policy
- representatives of the European Socio - Economic Committee,
International Work Organisation and Socio-Economic Councils
- members of the Tripartite Commission for Socio – Economic Issues
- deputies of the Polish Parliament and members of the Polish Senate
- representatives of scientific circles
The conference was also attended by
representatives of EuroMI who met with the
Commissioner, Vladimir Špidla, to whose cabinet the appeal to the
European Commission written by the members of the network, was directed. |

The Barka
Foundation on
the Eighth Annual Global Development Conference
in Beijing
(
14-16 of January 2007)
The main topic of the conference
was the development of Asia and its consequences.
Demografic trends, various social cre systems, labour market development,
new strategies of fighting poverty and femine as well as ecology issues
are being discussed during numerous plenar sessions and workshops.
The Barka Foundation has received the first prise in the GDN
competition Beijin 2007 together with the Bethesda Organisation from
Benin in Africa. The Barka Foundation and Bethesda were awarded as "

The European Commission invited the Barka
Foundation to participate actively in a conference sumarising the Year
of European Workers' Mobility
The conference took place in Lille (France) on
the 11-12 of December 2006 " Barka
representative will take part in the official opening of the conference.
They will present the Foundation's project on work migrants. Furthermore
they will conduct workshops on activization and rentegration of
the migrants returning to their home country". - said a
European Commisssion representative |

A Barka representative has
been invited to make a speech during a United Nations conference.
A seminar entitled "Strenhtening social
Inclusion Process - Searching for a Compromise in Order to Reach Lisbon
Strategy and Millennium Development Goals" took
place in Warsaw on the 29-30th of November 2006. European Commission
representatives as well as government representatives together with
local authorities and NGOs dealing with social exclusion and social
integration took part in the conference. |

Videoconference in London and Warsaw
concerning the new wave of Polish work migrants
in the UK
Ewa Sadowska-the EuroMi coordinator has taken
part in the panel discussion during a seminar orgnised by the British
Council in Warsaw - Thursday the 7th of December - on the situation of
Polish migrants in the UK. The Seminar will take place simultaneously in
London and Warsaw - videoconference facilitieson will enable
common discussion. Homelessness of many Polish migrants in
the UK is one of the proposed topics |

other EU countries - challenges to the state".
Representatives of the European Network for Migrants
Integration - the project coordinator, Ewa Sadowska and the Barka
Foundation secretary Anna Posnik took part in
a conference organized by the Marshall of Polish Senate. The
conference was called "Work Migration from Poland to other EU
countries - challenges to the state. In her speech Ewa Sadowskja
asked Polish Parliament representatives for support for the EuroMI
project activities in the European Commission. EuroMI promotional
materials were distributed during the conference. |

An
international conference organised by FEANSTA will take place in
Wrocław.
The conference was aimed at NGOs
fighting homelesness, they all came to
Wrocław to exchange their experience in the matter.
The Barka Foundation was represented by
Barbara Sadowska. Aditionaly Małgorzata Malak from PBME introduced
the conference participants to the new project program EuroMI.
Partners of the project have written a letter to the participans and
during breakes between presentation declarations of support for the
project were being collected. |
